Local History
This section will hold a variety of materials and details regarding the history of Kerry, Dolfor and Sarn, their buildings, people and events. Hopefully we will have a full mix of formally documented information, personal recollections, photos, maps and so on.
Each village has a dedicated section (see the links on the left hand side), which focuses on the buildings, people, historical events and points of historical interest for that village.
Additionally, there is a general section that covers all other local history information associated with the Kerry area. (Until 1860 all three villages were part of a much larger Kerry parish.)
It is the intention to add content throughout these pages over the coming months, and it is hoped that this will expand through crowdsourced materials from local historians and residents. We are looking for a full mix of formally documented information, personal recollections, photos, maps and so on.
Kerry and Sarn each has an active local history group. (I’m sure they’d love to see you!)
Both organise visits and talks, and meet typically monthly throughout the year. If you wish to contact or indeed get involved with these groups, your contacts are:
Kerry:
Jane Napier email: kerrylocalhistory@yahoo.co.uk phone: TBA
Sarn:
Marilyn Price email: marilynaprice@gmail.com phone: 01686 670237
In the meantime, while we build out the material, if you are interested in any aspect of local history, here are a few external links that might be interesting:
And finally, if you would like to contribute directly to any of these details, please contact either of the Local History Groups, or any of Neil Hayward, Carmen Seal, or Angela Feltham
